Is your dog reactive on leash?

Five Tips to Prevent your Dog from Over-Reacting on Leash

  1. Walk your dog during the quiet times, early in the morning or late at night.
  2. Be observant!  Watch your dog for subtle alert signals and watch the horizon for triggers.  Turn and walk the other way to avoid triggers.
  3. Use a double-leash system: one leash attached to a head harness such as the Halti, a second leash attached to a body harness, such as an Easy Walk.
  4. Avoid asking your dog to SIT while the trigger passes, try playing TOUCH or other dynamic game, instead.  Start the game at your dog’s first alert signal…BEFORE he goes over threshold!
  5. Train and then use the Engage-Disengage Game at least 3 times a week!
