2nd Friday Art Walk in Historic Downtown Colonial Beach

Our featured artist for February & March is Wendy Young. Wendy comes to us from Richmond, Va where she raised her son, minored in Sculpting at VCU and participated in the artistic community there in many facets; from her wire work in shows to doing standup to storytelling to fronting a punk band to many others...she simply cannot resist a challenging creative venture!

Though new to Colonial Beach, she's continued accepting challenges to new creative ventures here as well.  Since the beginning of summer 2022, her work has been shown in Montross, Fredericksburg, Tappahannock, and here in Colonial Beach; being a member of the CB Artist Alliance at the Jarrett Thor Gallery since June. You also may also have seen her hamming it up among the cast at the most recent play here at the magnificent little Colonial Beach Playhouse, The Trial of Ebeneezer Scrooge.

When she's not bending wire or fiddling with this material or that, she's creating varying-sized collections of words (which on a good day may even pair up nicely with another of her collections of words) with the hopes of one day having a bundle of those bigger word collections neatly bound between 2 covers with a title and a picture on the outside.  Until then, the collections continue to grow, unaware of the others.

Outside of her current creative ventures, she's a jackie of all trades and finds herself busy in her community in a way she loves. Wendy's well known for consistently keeping new healthy habits for short periods of time, laughing at herself and stopping in the dips of country roads to listen to frogs.  She's a sucker for babies, practical jokes, double scoop waffle cones and finds the opportunity to know any kooky eccentrics' back story almost irresistible.  She is currently wavering on her opinion of the merits of keeping one's opinion to oneself.

Most of all, she's happy you're here at Beach Paws to get your most adorable pet the BEST treats, toys, food, and swagger and to give her wire Creations a look and a smile.  She hopes to meet you face-to-face when she returns to Colonial Beach in March.
